Jumpstart!

UVU Student Life recently opened up their arms to embrace new Wolverines for Jumpstart 2008. Over 1,400 eager new students and their families flooded the UVU campus for orientation, where they were provided information on how to make a successful transition to university life. Veteran Wolverines provided tours of our beautiful campus, explained the ins and outs of school, and shared their wisdom and insights on how to thrive in academic and social affairs. The lucky newbies attended a series of informative presentations covering college-life and concerns, including Advising (Adam Black) and Student Right and Responsibilities (Bob Rasmussen). Proud parents also attended a lecture series discussing Financial Aid (JoAnna McCormick) and Transitions into Adulthood (Dr. Bill Erb).

Andrew Stone commented, “One major success of the program was the campus community coming together to support these orientations – we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help.” A special pat on the back is deserved by all those involved in the planning and implementation of Jumpstart. This program is a fantastic example of the quality opportunities that make this university outstanding.
